![]() ![]() So, this is a story I’ve known for a while. On a side note, Egyptian Mythology was the first mythology I was introduced to as a kid as I loved everything to do with Ancient Egypt back then. Hermes here is trying to cheer him up despite such. Also, as for the reason why Hades is sulking in the picture is that Persephone recently left to bring spring on Earth and he feels pretty down as a result. So their relationship is pretty mixed with it mostly leaning on the positive. Despite this, I can see him still pulling pranks on his uncle which definitely doesn’t help Hades’ mood. ![]() In regards to his relationship to Hades, I see Hermes as someone who tries to cheer Hades up and help him with social interaction. I personally see that while he takes his duties seriously, off time he’s pulling pranks on the other gods for kicks and giggles (like the time he stole Apollo’s cattle). So, unlike the other trickster gods that will mentioned, Hermes isn’t as malicious as the others. He is also notable for bringing Persephone to and from the Underworld following the determination that she spend part of the year with Hades and the other with her mother Demeter. ![]() Along with being the messenger god and the god of travelers, commerce, and thieves, Hermes is a psychopomp or guide for the souls who have recently died. We all know Hades rules the Underworld but an unexpected helper he has is his nephew Hermes. Also, this is my first time drawing Hermes so I hope you like how he’s done. Thought I’d start out with Greek Mythology as y’all know that’s the subject I draw about here. The reason why is because I found it interesting that when it comes to the three mythologies depicted (Norse, Greek, and Egyptian), the gods of the Underworld have a unique relationship to the trickster gods of that respective pantheon. These are pictures I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and I finally got it done. ![]()
